Let’s go down all the Sunday events and familiarize you with everything you need to know as Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season approaches.

SUNDAY NIGHT

  1. Cowboys start from where they left off-: Dallas led the league with 33 takeaways while sniffing the ball the previous season. On a Sunday night, the defense and special teams made sure that nobody would accuse them of losing their sense of opportunity. First, cornerback Noah Igbinoghene scooped up and scored from 58 yards out after safety Juanieh Thomas intercepted the Giants’ first drive field goal attempt by stabbing it with a knife through the line. After intercepting a pass, Trevon Diggs struck Saquon Barkley hard as they were driving, sending the ball flying into the air and into the waiting hands of the Cowboys defenders. Additionally, he was in the end zone. Although the Cowboys’ offense only completed one drive in the opening period, Dallas ended the period with a 16-0 advantage. The American team will score another 24 unanswered points and force two more turnovers before the evening comes to a happy conclusion. This was a great demonstration of defensive skill.

2. Mike McCarthy’s crime is more than simply a courtroom thrill trip-: Even if The Dak Prescott  and Company wasn’t very exceptional, they didn’t need to use such harshness. In Green Bay, there has always been a ray of hope thanks to McCarthy’s outstanding first-year efforts. With 13 completions for 143 yards and no touchdowns, Prescott created a hazy line, but the flawless football team was able to score on five of seven possessions. Last year, Tony Pollard seemed to be far away from his fractured foot. The new workhorses put on a show that was spectacular, leaping an amazing 16 feet and moving 82 yards in their path. In addition, Electric KaVontae Turpin outperformed his four modestly aggressive touches from the previous year with three carries, two catches, and a touchdown. For the first week since 2019, the early onslaught resulted in 257 yards, 27 points, and a victory.

3. What might have gone wrong, did.-: To take control of the running game, the veterans produced a strong drive on the Cowboys’ 8-yard line. The wheels fell off at that point. A wobbly start sent them back 13 yards, a bad snap moved them 27 yards the other way, and the Cowboys stopped the upcoming field goal attempt to score a touchdown. The foundation for a terrible performance was laid by that opening drive. The defensive herd of Dallas got no answer from New York. Quarterback Daniel Jones had a mixed performance, with 104 passing yards, two interceptions, and a passer rating of 32.4 out of 28 attempts. His outing still looks better due to the garbage time. According to Next Gen Stats, he faced pressure on all seven sacks and struggled with a 62.9% dropback pressure rate, which clearly affected his performance. Under Jones’ leadership, there was only a 2.6-yard increase per game in the attack. The Giants’ defense also had to contend with playing behind by eight points, allowing five scoring drives, and Graham Gano missed a second attempt at an unblocked field goalAt every turn, the champions were unstoppable. New York didn’t appear to be a team that was prepared to go up, not even by two spots, in the NFC East last year, when it finished third.

NFL Research: The Cowboys’ 40-0 victory over the Baltimore Colts on Sunday night surpassed their 38-0 shutout victory over the Colts in 1978 as the best shutout victory in franchise history. All of the Cowboys teams have advanced to the Super Bowl thanks to the following three biggest shutout victories. The situation of the next generation in sports: The cowboy created pressure on 23 out of 36 dropbacks (63.9%), which is tied for the second-highest pressure rate in any game since 2019. Eight defenders from Dallas generated multiple pressures, including four with at least five pressures each.
